'Infinity' necklace

This item is an entry in the European Street Team weekly challenge. The weeks theme was - Craft your favorite quote! …the craft doesn't have to include the actual quote, just be inspired by it.

I chose my favorite Albert Einstein's quote - "Two things are infinite: the Universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the Universe."

The quote gave me an idea to make a focal in the necklace shaped as an ancient "Infinity" symbol.

In ancient India and Tibet, it represented perfection, dualism, and unity between male and female. In the occult tarot it's linked to magic and represents equilibrium or the balance of various forces. The infinity snake Uroborus (a serpent or a dragon biting its own tail, symbol of the eternity of time) has been found in this shape. In modern times, it became a secular mathematical symbol for infinity in numbers, time or space (eternity).

The pendant in this necklace is totally made from scratch using various gauges of sterling silver wire. The frames were meticulously coiled with sparkling micro-faceted Rainbow Moonstone rondelles full of subtle electric blue fire that flashes with every movement. The necklace fastens with a lobster clasp and extension chain, which I've finished off with a single Rainbow Moonstone rondelle.

All metal used is sterling silver. The silver has been oxidized to enhance the details. The total length (including clasp and extension chain) is adjustable from 19 to 21 inches (48 to 54 cm). The total length of the pendant including bails is approximately 1 ¾ inches long (47 mm).
